Blending Tradition with Function: Template Design for St Andrew’s Cathedral School
Supporting communication for one of Sydney’s most historic schools.
St Andrew’s Cathedral School is a leading independent school in Sydney’s CBD. Known not only for its central city location and rich history, but also for its forward-thinking approach to education.
The communications team was already doing incredible work. But their internal and external documents needed more visual consistency, something that honoured their brand while giving staff easy-to-use templates across departments.
They approached Timplates to design and build a full suite of Microsoft Word templates that reflected their identity, improved functionality, and could be rolled out across the school.
What Was Needed
The school wanted templates that would:
- Match their established brand and tone
- Be intuitive for staff to use and update
- Maintain consistency across departments
- Feel polished enough for external comms, yet easy enough for daily internal use
They also needed careful integration of their existing visual identity: logo, crest, colours, and typography.
The Approach
We worked closely with the team to build a suite of Word templates designed for:
- Letters
- Memos
- Reports
- Policy documents
- Newsletters
Each template included clearly styled headings, editable placeholders, and built-in consistency tools to reduce formatting headaches for staff.
Rather than overcomplicating the layout, we focused on simplicity and strength, so the templates could support a wide range of uses across the school’s academic and admin teams.
The Result
The result is a set of tools that supports both function and brand alignment.
Staff can now focus on the message they’re trying to communicate without worrying about formatting or visual consistency. The templates are robust, on-brand, and designed with the end-user in mind.
“The templates have made a huge difference. They’re easy to use, look professional, and ensure everything we send out is consistent with our branding.”

Whether it’s a school-wide announcement or a simple memo, the voice and professionalism of the school now comes through in every document.
